During the July fiasco, lawyer applied first set on July 2nd and since we were n't sure if the application reached USCIS we put a yello cover sheet which said refiling because earlier 485 could be misplaced. Even after that, both first and second were accepted and I got EAD, FP and AP on the first one and EAD, FP on the second one. Attorney suggested to follow up with FP second time also and said we will be asked by USCIS which application to keep. Is this true?
Or will both my applications be rejected since we did not get back to them?
I know some other folks on IV are also in same boat. I am planning to use EAD so I am kind of worried otherwise it is clean case with I 140 approved.

Texas allows instate tuition waivers for H1 and H4 visa holders provided they are residents of texas for 1 year. In other words, any H1/H4 holder residing in TX for more than a year only pays instate tuition.

hey guys
my company has their own lawyer who does all the immigration work. As part of 485 document preperation, they made me sign the forms granting him authority to deal with my case.
Now if i change company after six months, can i take back control from old company lawyer to myself? How many ways they can trouble me?
Any advice is appreciated!!!

Immigration gurus, need your advice ASAP
my current H1B visa expires 03/07 . If I can fill for extension and while petion is pending with USCIS for processing can I travel outside USA ?
I asked lawyer to apply for extension first week of september . I have I140 approved and he will request 3 years increment .
my job requires traveling outside USA and I'm wonder if I can travel back and forth until petition is approved .
I know that after approval I need to get visa stamp .
Your quick inputs will be highly appreciated

The online status of my package on USPS tracking page shows same message as yours. It just struck me that how can a certified mail be delivered to the agency if one is sending it to a PO Box. I mean how can USPS get a delivery signature from a real person if the address is not a physical address, but a PO Box number. Any thoughts?

But here is the crux of it.
Basically the guy said that : assuming that the wife is working on EAD, and the moment she gets an H4 extension approval, she automatically comes on H4 status, but the very next day if she goes back to work on EAD, the H4 status gets invalidated and person comes on AOS status instantly.
Now should she force the company to update the I-9 on that date, is the question.
The bottom line I think is : there is nothing called as a STATUS field in any USCIS or DOS computer system. Its what you do that determines your status. I believe USCIS allows dual intent.
Does anyone think that I am wrong?

I did my landing in July 06 and have received canadian PR but then moved back to US since then and have not visited Canada since.
Can somebody please provide some input on this? Friend of mine told me that i have to move before July, 08 in order to maintain canadian PR status. Is it true?
